Bristol Palin; The Family Brains?

Bristol Palin has spoken out against her mother's idiotic stance on abstinence only education.

During an interview on Fox News, Sarah Palin's daughter, who is an unwed teen mother, stated that the concept of not teaching the facts of life in favor of abstinence was fucking stupid. Well to be fair, those were not her exact words, but she did state that her mother, the failed vice presidential candidate in the 2008 general election, was completely unrealistic in her views on sex education.

In a sad indictment of her relationship with Sarah Palin, Bristol told Fox News that telling her fanatical right wing moron of a mother that she was pregnant was harder than labor. In fact their relationship was so strained that she had to get a friend to break the news to her mother.

Well folks, that's what happens when you are a right wing religious nut job, and raise your kids in an unrealistic bubble. They no longer feel they can confide in or trust you.

Bristol is supposedly going to take on an advocacy role, using her experience to teach teens that getting pregnant in high school sucks. Who knows, maybe she will even demonstrate intelligence that far surpasses her mother, and campaign for teens to receive real sex education that includes information about contraception.

It is always sad to see that Republicans are so dumb that bad things have to actually happen to them personally before they can understand a concept.

Study: Virginity Rings Don't Work

I've long been suspicious of the abstinence movement, especially when coupled with virginity rings, abstinence pledges, and a lack of proper sex education.

A new study has shown that the concept is in fact just as stupid as I always thought it was.

Specifically, the study found that virginity pledgers have sex for the first time at similar ages to those who don't take a pledge or wear a moron ring. They are just as likely to engage in vaginal, anal or oral sex. They are just as likely to have STDs.

In fact the only real difference the study discovered is that pledgers are 10% less likely to use a condom, and less likely to use any form of birth control than non-pledgers (thus proving their ignorance and stupidity).

The study also found that five years after taking the pledge 80% denied ever having made such a promise or pledge. Showing that not only are they gullible, immature and stupid, they are also more likely to lie.

With any luck the new government will stop peddling this religious-based abstinence crap on our kids and return to teaching facts.
