A 74-year-old blind woman living in Attleboro, Massachusetts was sent a letter from from the city informing her that she owed one penny on her water and sewer bill. The letter went on to threaten that if she didn't pay up she would be fined $48, and a lien would be placed on her home.Locals who heard about the incident became so outraged, city hall were inundated with requests to pay off her penny debt.
Eventually a stranger showed up and wrote a check for one penny, so I guess her home is safe now.
It reminds me of my local electric company that appears to be run by Nazis.
